Ellen Barber is the founder of Turtle Translation.
Growing up in many places over the world during her childhood taught her the importance of language and communication. Ellen spent time in Hong Kong, the UAE, Latvia, Scotland, France, Spain, the Philippines and Belgium and quickly learnt to speak French, Spanish, Dutch, Chinese, German and some words of Latvian and Tagalog to get by.
It is no surprise that when she started studying at the Heriot Watt University, Scotland, she pursued her passion: Interpreting and Translation. Finally graduating with a Second Upper Class Degree.
Today, she leads Turtle Translation with much the same passion and love, striving for meticulous translations that lift up the messages that people want to spread.
Ellen does translations from French, Dutch and Spanish to English. She is specialized in topics like environmentalism, extreme sports, social sciences and marketing.
Besides being an entrepreneur, Ellen is an outdoor adventurer. She has rock climbed from the young age of 7 and still wildly enjoys hanging around at and on the rocks whenever she can. Currently, she is engaged in a 3-year intense course called the Mount Coach Academy, that deepens her understanding and skills of rock climbing, alpinism, trad climbing, skiing and so much more. With her own experience, and because of her huge interest, extreme sports is one of the specializations she offers for her translations.
Ellen is enthusiastic, flexible, open for new beginnings and immensely professional. Customer service and great translations are what make her so good at her job.
